While billions are invested in climate solutions, a significant gap exists in supporting frontline communities most impacted by climate change. Underserved communities located across low-lying coastal areas, agricultural regions, and urban areas near industrial facilities are the most vulnerable and bear the brunt of climate disasters, facing displacement, health issues, and economic hardship. These harms are often compounded for low-income and disabled people and other minority populations.

During this dynamic 1.5hr session, Forum for the Future and B Lab U.S. & Canada will share an overview of their co-published Business Guide to Advancing Climate Justice, providing guidance for businesses looking to take concrete action in partnership with communities.

Project Drawdown will then share their Drawdown's Neighborhood climate solutions short docuseries, followed by a panel discussion with Seventh Generation and other businesses who are advancing climate justice, and community representatives from Project Drawdown’s Neighborhood Tri-State series. The panel will explore questions such as:

How can businesses start on their climate justice journey?
What’s needed for effective multi-stakeholder partnerships, including frontline communities, to advance climate solutions?
Where can business have impact across areas of control and influence?

Drawdown’s Neighborhood, an initiative of Project Drawdown’s storytelling and engagement program, is a climate solutions short documentary series passing the mic to climate heroes who often go unheard. Project Drawdown is the world’s leading resource for climate solutions. Their mission is to help the world stop climate change—as quickly, safely, and equitably as possible. To do this, they pursue three key strategies: advancing effective, science-based climate solutions and strategies; fostering bold, new climate leadership; and promoting new narratives and new voices.

About the Business Guide to Advancing Climate Justice

As climate change intensifies, the most severe harm falls disproportionately on frontline and underserved communities, who are least able to prepare for and recover from climate disasters. Climate justice strengthens current and new climate action initiatives to be more effective, efficient and inclusive.

In April 2024, Forum for the Future and B Lab U.S. & Canada co-published the Business Guide to Advancing Climate Justice, for the many businesses who are beginning to embrace their role and responsibility in creating equity-centered solutions to the global climate crisis. It amplifies and supports the stories, voices, and wisdom from frontline community efforts and provides practical guidance for the private sector to take concrete climate justice action in partnership with communities.
